About Arne Jacobsen :
Arne Jacobsen was born in Copenhagen in 1902, she studied Architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts then founded her agency in 1930. Among her main works there is the Bellavista residential complex (suburb of Copenhagen) which earned the nickname of "The Danish Corbusier", then the SAS Royal Hotel of Copenhagen for which she designed the famous Egg and Swan chairs. She also created the Ant chair whose origin was based on an order placed by a pharmaceutical laboratory. This chair became the most sold Danish piece of furniture in the world (more than 5 million chairs). Arne Jacobsen also worked in England and Germany but it is in Denmark where the essential part of her creations resides: houses, buildings, hotels, theatres, factories… More than 30 years after her death, the Danish design remains strongly marked by her work.
